Weddings & events

Rebecca specialises in playing the harp at weddings and private functions and has played at most Cambridge wedding venues and colleges. The beautiful sounds of the harp will bring a magical atmosphere to your wedding day, whether to announce the arrival of the bride and bring a sophisticated sense of occasion to the ceremony, or to provide a relaxed and enchanting musical backdrop to the drinks reception or wedding breakfast.

Formal training

Rebecca started playing the harp at the age of nine, and studied with Elaine Pamphilon and Alison Nicholls. She became Alison’s teaching assistant and now runs her own private studio. Rebecca studied Music at Cambridge University, and as a postgraduate at the Royal College of Music. She has been working as a professional harpist, teacher and composer for nearly 7 years. She plays an Aoyama, mahogany, concert harp and her repertoire includes a wide mixture of classical, popular, jazz and folk music.

Repertoire

Rebecca is equally happy playing classical music, popular songs, songs from shows and film, or folk music. If you are booking Rebecca to play for your ceremony, you will need to choose some specific pieces for the key moments of the ceremony: one for the bridal entrance, three pieces for the signing of the register, and one for the exit of the bride and groom and all guests. These can be chosen by looking at the repertoire list online, or by making an appointment to choose the pieces in person.

For all other parts of the day, Rebecca is happy for you to leave it to her to play a mixture of styles; or you can specify a style of music you would like played; or give her a list of favourites you would like to be incorporated in advance.

Rebecca is always happy, wherever possible, to arrange pieces you might wish for which are not currently in her repertoire.

  1. Very memorable occasion

Hi David, a brief note to thank Rebecca very much for playing so beautifully at my daughter’s wedding. Everyone enjoyed the music very much, and it made for a very memorable occasion.

  2. Played with a smile

Rebecca was the perfect choice to play at our ceremony. Not only was she supportive in assisting us with choosing the music, but she kindly dressed to match our theme (we didn’t even request this). Not only was the music she played complimentary to the ambience of the day, but she improvised with great awareness of the mood and played with a smile on her face at all times.
