How much does it cost to book a jazz band?

The price of a jazz band depends on the number of musicians in the band. Soloists start at around £300, with larger swing bands starting at around £900 locally. Prices also vary depending on the date (peak vs off-peak) and the venue’s location in relation to where the band are based.

What types of events are jazz bands suitable for?

The usual set times are 2 x 45 or 60 minute sets over a 3 hour period, although most bands are happy to tailor their sets to suit your schedule. Most soloists, duos and trios can be booked for a specific number of hours, while jazz bands usually have various packages to choose from.

Can I request modern songs in a jazzy style?

Aside from performing standards, most jazz bands often include a selection of pop songs in their repertoire to appeal to a wider audience. When booking a jazz band to perform in the evening, it can be a good idea to have a more traditional first set, followed by a more modern second set to get guests dancing.

Do jazz bands have any special requirements?

Every band is different, but generally, jazz musicians will require the following when booked for an event:

• Soft drinks, tea and coffee
• Parking at the venue
• A hot meal (for evening bookings) or sandwiches/buffet plates (for afternoon events).
• Electricity supply
• Enough space for them to perform (see spec in an artist’s description)
