Why hire an organist?
With its rich, full sound, an organ adds a unique and grandiose atmosphere that marries perfectly with choral singing or as a standalone instrument.
Our solo organists are available to hire for church services, organ recitals, religious ceremonies, civil ceremonies, and weddings.
If you’re after a more versatile option for your wedding, funeral, or event, you might consider one of our talented pianists for hire in your local region as an alternative.
What music do organists play?
A professional organist will have an extensive song list and be able to perform a wide range of both traditional and modern songs. Our roster of experienced church organists can also perform a variety of hymns and classical pieces to suit your event.
Below are some suggestions for popular organ songs regularly performed at events:
- Amazing Grace
- Ave Maria
- The Wedding March
- Arrival of the Queen of Sheba
- Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring
- Air on the G String
Our solo organ players for hire are happy to accept any song requests so long as they’re given plenty of notice. Depending on the complexity of the songs and the time taken to learn/practice, the organists may charge a small additional fee for this service.
How much time does an organist need to set up?
Depending on the type of organ used, an organist may only need a short time to prepare. If performing in a religious venue such as a church or cathedral, an organ may already be installed, and it will simply be a case of them arriving around 30-60 minutes beforehand to warm up.
If using their own electric organ, they’ll need access to power and a suitable performance area set aside for them with a comfortable stool or armless chair. Electronic organs are also an option for outdoor performances.
How much does it cost to hire an organ player?
To book one of our fantastic musicians, you should expect to pay around £250 for a booking lasting a few hours. Depending on the venue location, the performer may also have to include some additional travel expenses.
What type of instruments do organists play?
There are various types of organ instruments available depending on your event. The most common and well-recognised is the church organ, followed by pipe organs and electric organ players. Each has its own practical use and provides a historical musical ambience suitable for many different occasions.
