What type of events can I book a saxophonist for?
Anything where your guests are mingling and the drinks are flowing! The sound of the saxophone will float into the background and add a touch of style to any event. We recommend a saxophonist for:
- Weddings
- Drinks receptions
- Garden parties
- Corporate events
- Retirement parties
- Birthday parties
Our solo sax players can often work with additional musicians, such as jazz bands, party bands, and DJs.
How much does a saxophonist cost?
The cost to hire a saxophonist depends on whether you’re looking to book them solo or as part of a larger group.
Whilst most sax players offer acoustic sax with backing tracks, some sax players offer packages with additional percussion and DJ services to create a ‘DJ Live’ or ‘DJ Sax’ entertainment package.
Below, you’ll find price estimates for all the most popular booked sax options:
- Solo Sax with Backing Tracks: £250-350
- Sax Duo: £400-500
- Sax Trio: £600-800
- Sax with DJ: £700+
- Sax with Full Band: £1400+
Can a saxophonist play outside?
Absolutely, as long as their equipment and instrument is protected from the rain! They’ll also need an electricity supply to power their speaker system. If it’s a hot and sunny day, the sax player will also need access to some form of cover or shade.
What kind of music can a saxophonist play?
Saxophonists perform a wide range of music, often focusing on Ibiza-style dance covers, chilled background music or modern pop hits featuring sax as a lead melodic instrument. Our solo sax players also perform a selection of classical music and jazz to suit your preferences.
Professional saxophonists use high-quality backing tracks to provide subtle accompaniment if booked to perform solo, ensuring they can play all your favourite songs. They’ll often play the main melodic theme of the song (usually the vocal line) and the main instrumental hooks – think Careless Whisper and Baker Street!
What types of sax players are available?
Our sax players for hire can be booked in various formats, either solo or as part of an ensemble. Matching the right type of sax player to your event is important. For example, if you’re hosting a club night and looking for a party atmosphere, then one of our Ibiza-style sax players would fit the bill perfectly.
On the flip side, if you’re planning a relaxed garden party, one of our solo jazz saxophonist players may be more suitable. We offer a range of both male and female sax players for hire, depending on your preference.
How long will a saxophonist play for?
A saxophonist’s playing time varies based on the event type. For weddings, they typically perform 3-4 songs during the ceremony as well as the drinks reception, and possibly the wedding breakfast. Most sax players will typically quote to cover 2 hours of live music with short breaks between sets,
Corporate functions and private events differ slightly, with sax players often booked for a set number of hours, often not exceeding 4-5 hours.
